Run, Spot, Run

This book (on 14" x 12" archival papers set in a hardboard cover) is an original artwork that won a prize at a juried art exhibition in 2004. The quirky theme of the exhibition was "run, spot, run", reminding me of ultra-coventional mid 20th century children's reading primers, with the obligatory dog named Spot accompanying the obligatory boy and girl named Dick and Jane. Mine is an alternative view, presenting the birth, adventures, and coming of age of a spot named Spot. A rebellion against given categories and labels is part of its plot. Its illustrations are far from the normative "children's reader". Five signed, limited editions of this book are available (total edition = 100).
